Scientist generally names the later part of the 19th century as the beginning point of global warming. But modern studies regard it by the 1830s.

To get straight to the point of global warming, we can simply say that it is the gradual increase in the Earth’s average surface temperature, depending on many reasons explained in this article.

Climate Change

Global warming and climate change are two perceptible actions. Climate change is a change in an area’s definite, regular and intelligible form or sequence of weather. At the same time, global warming is the continuous heating up of Earth. Global warming is a severe issue as it is causing climate change on Earth, due to which Earth is expanding daily.

Causes of Global warming

Unfortunately, we humans are the real cause of global warming. Global warming is the result of human activities. According to an estimation, men are placing 9.5 billion metric tons of carbon into the atmosphere each year only by burning fossil fuels.

The deforestation, land cover, climate change, melting of glaciers, rise in sea levels, natural disasters, and the release of greenhouse gases (water vapor (H. 2O), carbon dioxide (CO. 2), methane (CH. 4), nitrous oxide (N. 2O), and ozone (O3), etc.) have also caused global warming.

1. Sun’s Heat

Earth gets all of its energy and heat from the sun. So it is logical to fancy that sun can be one of the causes of global warming. The amount of energy coming from the sun varies; however, NASA and the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) have considered the sun a root of the ongoing hot drift.

2. Burning of fossil fuels

Burning coal, oil, gas, and other fossil fuels causes global warming. By burning fossil fuels, CO2 gas is released into the environment. Australia produces more CO2 as compared to the rest of the world. Electricity and power are generated by burning fossil fuels. In Australia, 73% of electricity is produced by burning coal and 13% by burning gas.

3. Deforestation

Deforestation means cutting plenty of trees. Plants and trees are natural regulators of the environment. High deforestation causes an imbalance in the natural environmental system. Plants and trees absorb CO2 and release oxygen, and that’s how they modulate the environment. But humans cut trees, sell them or convert large forest areas into industrial or commercial sites, reducing the number of trees in an area to an alarming extent. So ultimately, the temperature increases in that area and results in global warming. According to research, 1/5th part of greenhouse gases comes from deforestation.

4. Transportation

Environmental Protection Agency describes that 33 % of the U.S.’s excretion comes from transportation. It causes pollution that ultimately results in global warming.

5. Farming

Ranching and farming at a large scale discharge methane and carbon dioxide directly into the surroundings. Farming gives rise to 40% methane and 20% carbon dioxide worldwide.

6. Fertilizers

Nitrogen-rich fertilizers are used widely on land. Nitrogen oxides can catch 300 times more heat than CO2.

7. Oil drillings

Industry releases oil drilling that causes CO2 into the environment.

Effects of Global Warming

Global warming results in extreme environmental changes.

Global warming is gradually increasing the temperature. According to the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), the average global temperature has risen by about 0.8 °C over the past 100 years.

Melting glaciers, untimely snowmelt, rising-sea levels, and extreme droughts will create more water scarcity and elevates the risk of wildfires.

Global warming is one of the threats to life on the earth. If it remains uncontrolled, the world will become a hell to live on!
